So last year I finished uni and now I’ve moved with my partner down to the big smoke. Sydney so far is pretty great, met some very cool people and I am loving my new job as the Audio Dude @ Well Placed Cactus.
Last year after Pro Tools 10 came out less than 12 months after 9, which was still not working well for me at an exorbitant price I took the hint and moved to another DAW. I decided to go back to my first love, Cubase which has been a blessing for my WPC work which is heavily midi based. I’m still only getting stuck into it but man are there some powerful midi features. It helps too that my music room is now rocking and I have all my toys synced up nicely. (only today I learned that I can select programs on my GAIA SH01 from Cubase!)
Speaking of the Gaia if you have one and you haven’t got Grauw’s Gaia tool GET IT NOW! It’s a fantastic, free addition to the Gaia allowing you to fine tune your sounds and even giving you full access to the arpeggiator. The library tools are very helpful too, helps me stop losing all my presets.
Now that I’m getting my head into scripting I’ve decided to try and build some VSTs, I’ll start off with some easy stuff but I’d really like to get the Gaia tool functioning within cubase, if its possible. I’ll be sure to keep you updated.
Tomorrow I’ll upload the current work in progress music for bullet, I’ll add some interactive bits and bobs too if I can.
Finally, I saw the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel tonight, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I think the sound and music was well executed and really added those frantic Indian scenes.
